| The Academic Common Market |
If a public institution in your home state does not offer a degree program in your field of study, it may be possible to arrange a waiver of out-of-state tuition for you to pursue that program at a cooperating public institution of higher education in another state. The states which have agreed to this arrangement together form the Academic Common Market. Currently, ACM-participating states are: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Florida, North Carolina, and Texas also participate, but at the graduate level only. A complete list of State Coordinators is here.
ACADEMIC COMMON MARKET DISCLAIMER
As the coordinating agency for the State of Louisiana's participation in the
SREB's Academic Common Market (ACM), the Louisiana Board of Regents reserves the
right, at its discretion and at any time, to remove academic programs offered by
Louisiana institutions from the ACM and/or to remove access to academic programs
at out-of-state institutions offered to Louisiana students through the ACM.
Students interested in applying for an ACM waiver should review the inventories
of programs currently available to Louisiana residents (links below). Students
who begin studies at one institution with the intent of transferring to an ACM
institution/program are not guaranteed ACM access if the respective program is
removed from the ACM during their time at the institution of origin, nor are
students with provisional admission guaranteed ACM access to the program at the
time of unconditional admission.
Participating Programs: (current)
Write directly to the college or university for admission information concerning these programs. Once you have been accepted unconditionally into one of them and can prove you are a legal resident of Louisiana, complete and return the Academic Common Market application to the Louisiana State Coordinator at the address shown on the application.
